During the 1970s Byther “Smitty” Smith became internationally recognized as an obscure but deserving cult figure among blues fans, based on live performances and only a handful of singles -- collectors' items dating back to the '60s His punchy, economical guitar statements and extraordinarily emotional singing place him securely among the legends whose music he has woven into his own powerful, vital stylings. Byther Smith, the former boxer, is a scrapper, a hard worker and a musician who now fights his fight from stage and studio, sweating out his rage as he dances in his corner, sparring with the audience, battling with the world. Smitty still loves playing
and touring … Recent appearances have included Denmark, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,
Michigan, Indiana, Minnesota, Nevada, Illinois and California. Smitty is eager to get back on the road this summer and is working on scheduling dates in the Western states. |
